Marking Tools
Marking tools are the pens and pencils of sewing. You’ll need them frequently, for every project you make, to mark fabric with temporary cutting lines, seamlines, buttonholes, and other construction details. Most fabric pens, pencils, and chalks make temporary marks that wash out, brush out, or disappear after a few days of exposure to the air. It’s always a good idea to test the marker on your fabric to make sure it won’t leave permanent marks that will spoil your work.
Easy-to-use chalk dispensing tools leave a precise line that brushes off easily. These tools are great when you are marking fabric just before cutting, sewing, or serging. Some chalk markers, especially the wedges known as tailor’s chalk, have a waxy ingredient that makes the mark last longer.
